5 Great Bars Down Princes Avenue

Princes Avenue plays a huge role in Hull’s vibrant nightlife. With a plethora of eateries, pubs and late bars, the street is bustling with people all week long, especially on weekends.

There’s so much choice too – from world beers to juicy cocktails, there’s something to suit everyone. We’ve rustled up five of our favourite spots for a pint down Princes Avenue.

Florins

Housed in a stunning former bank, Florins offers a selection of good food, tasty cocktails and even Afternoon Tea.

Great for a girls’ night out or any special occasion, they have a wide range of delicious food, nibbles and snacks on their menu. You can even book onto one of their cocktail masterclasses if you have something to celebrate.

Meanwhile, be sure to head to Florins Unplugged on Wednesday evenings to enjoy some live local acoustic music.

Opening times: Monday-Thursday 10:30am-11pm, Friday-Saturday 9am-midnight, Sunday 9am-11pm

Whilst there, enjoy the unique atmosphere, old-fashioned pub spirit and allows your eyes to explore a room filled with treasures.

Union Mash Up

Next door to 80 Days is Union Mash Up, another intimate venue. Regularly putting on comedy shows, open mic nights, film screenings, spoken word and poetry slams, this bar is ideal for the artsy type.

Food is also available in the evenings, with an appetising menu of Malayan and Indonesian cuisine.

Dive

The latest addition to Princes Avenue, Dive takes inspiration from the New York music scene and affordable hangouts dubbed as ‘dive bars’.

The owners are two Hull-born musicians that grew up and worked in the area. After touring the world, they’re back and have set up Dive HU5.

They’re keen to support artists and creatives by putting on regular live events, film screenings and showcasing incredible artwork on their walls.

What’s more is that the interiors of the pub are made up entirely of recycled materials; the bar is built from old scaffolding boards, whilst the light fittings were kindly donated by local youth centre, The Warren.

Opening times: Daily, 10am until late

Pave

This is an excellent place to find mouth-watering meals alongside a variety of beers, bottles, cask ales and wines, as well as fair trade tea and coffee.

A great space to meet with a big group of friends and catch up with colleagues, this bar is quite roomy compared to other venues on the avenue.

Pave also hosts an array of exciting events. Enjoy live music nights with jazz artists, folk music and emerging musicians from Hull and the surrounding area.

Opening times: Sunday-Thursday 11am-11pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-midnight.
