Mental Health Services in Hull
Looking after our mental health and wellbeing is just as important as taking care of our physical health. Hull is an excellent city for this kind of support, with a number of council-run and independent charities and services available.
We want our tenants to be happy and stress-free, so we’ve rounded up some of the local organisations that can support you when you need it.
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind
Founded in 1976, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind has over 40 years’ experience in providing mental health services for the local people.
This incredible organisation works hard to support around 2,000 people each year. Their mission is to intervene at the early stage of mental illness in order to improve the wellbeing of the community. They also work hard to empower with those who experience mental health issues, striving to destigmatise diagnoses.
The HEY Mind website is a valuable resource for anyone concerned about their own or a friend’s mental health and wellbeing. They also run an excellent support service, as well as one-to-one and group therapy sessions.

Child Adolescent Mental Health Service
Specifically for those under 18, CAMHS supports young people experiencing emotional distress and struggling to cope. Their 24/7 crisis team is there for those who require immediate care and specialist short-term help.
Those over the age of 16 can refer themselves. CAMHS also has an Intensive Intervention Team, which aims to keep young people at home in their usual place of care whilst receiving treatment. Hull is one of the only places in the UK to have this particular service.

Hull Samaritans
One of 203 branches across the country, Hull Samaritans offers people an opportunity to talk through problems.
Every six seconds, someone contacts the Samaritans and the charity is there for anyone who needs them. Speak to them confidentially for as long as you want about whatever you want. Very often, a conversation with one of the many Samaritans volunteers is the difference between life and death.

Jen’s Pick Me Up
Located in the heart of Hull’s Old Town, Jen’s Pick Me Up is a space that promotes positivity and combats isolation.
From Monday to Friday, Jenny Purdue runs morning drop-in sessions called Positive Hull, where people meet to have an informal chat over a cup of tea.
She also runs a one-to-one coaching programme. This is where she draws up a personal action plan for the individual and helps them to move forward from their situation.

Let’s Talk Hull
Let’s Talk is the name of the depression and anxiety services in Hull. They offer everything from a free course to help manage stress, to group and one-to-one therapy sessions. In the meantime, their website is a very useful resource, signposting you to the right external services depending on your problem.
