Why the University of Hull is one of the World’s Top Universities

The University of Hull has just announced that it ranks among the world’s top universities in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject. This ranking is based on academic and employer reputation, as well as research impact.

With so many fantastic changes and improvements taking place on campus, this comes as no surprise.

Brynmor Jones Library combines learning with world-class art

The £27.4m redevelopment of the Brynmor Jones Library has certainly paid off, now presenting students with a bright, clean working space full of resources. The 7-floor building also houses an art gallery, which is playing a huge role in the Hull UK City of Culture celebrations.

We’ve already seen the beautiful Lines of Thought exhibition, which featured detailed drawings of some of art’s most prominent masters, including Michelangelo and Rembrandt. Now the BP Portrait Award brings famous faces like J.K. Rowling to campus.

Middleton Hall has become a hotspot for City of Culture events

The newly refurbished Middleton Hall also has a part to play during 2017. Acting as a hub of culture for music, film and performance, the state-of-the-art concert hall has been adapted especially for the celebrations.

Hull Independent Cinema regularly screens intriguing, thought-provoking films that aren’t shown at mainstream picture houses. Meanwhile, we’ve seen Xuefei Yang, one of the world’s finest classical guitarists, perform an astounding recital in the hall.

The brand new Health Campus and Allam Medical Building

In summer 2017 there will be a brand new area added to the campus. This consists of a specialised medical building, featuring a mock hospital ward, operating theatre and intensive care facilities.

The Allam Medical Building will allow students to carry out extensive research, attracting both undergraduates and postgraduates to the city.

Staff House renovations

Hosting all types of business, family and corporate events throughout the year, Staff House is one of the core venues on the university campus. The building is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, focusing on the kitchen, the popular Lindsey Suite, Myton Hall, and the Meux and Tranby rooms.

The remodelling will mean more delicious food on campus, as well as a modern meeting space for young professionals and students.

Hull is a student-friendly city

With these incredible changes happening on campus, the University of Hull continues to build a successful future for its students and the city. The interesting and innovative courses attract learners from across the globe, and the ongoing improvements make it an even more effective environment to study, relax and discover.
