Make the Most of the Avenues

Many of our properties are located around Newland Avenue and Princes Avenue. Luckily for our tenants, this area presents a huge range of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, independent traders and fresh food vendors, not to mention Pearson Park right on their doorstep. In this article we round up a few places that are well worth a visit.

The Yard – 204 Newland Avenue

Nestled between Roots and Pie, The Yard sells all kinds of secondhand furniture, appliances and garden furnishings. Run by Recycling Unlimited, you can also rest assured that your custom helps people who feel excluded from their local communities due to mental health problems and other social barriers.

Graciously Voluptuous – 11 Princes Avenue

A relatively new addition, this women’s emporium of vintage and rockabilly fashion caters for sizes 8-26, also offering free body confidence and styling tips. The visitor is greeted by beautiful design befitting an independent boutique as soon as they walk through the door, combined with a warm welcome and excellent customer service.

East Coast Bicycles – 53 Princes Avenue

This amazing place offers all kinds of two-wheeled wonders, from vintage single-speed beauties, to the incredibly eye-catching classic Dutch model. So whether you’re looking for a custom job, a cruiser or just something for the weekend, pop down to this friendly and award-winning independent bike supplier.

Pearson Park Wildlife Garden (pictured)

If you access Pearson Park on foot via the right-hand side Princes Avenue entrance, you’ll discover a haven of miniature wildlife. With a serene pond, small stretches of hedgerow, shaded woodland and a wildflower meadow, this Yorkshire Wildlife Trust garden is home to a variety of birds, butterflies and furry friends. Perfect for a quick stroll or a full day of family activities, we highly recommend making the most of this wild corner.

Artlink – 87 Princes Avenue

This hub of artistic expression has been helping people to develop and showcase their skills since 1982. With a bright and spacious gallery, a vibrant studio that hosts all kinds of workshops, a small shop selling artists’ work, and friendly staff always happy to help, you’ll be inspired even if you only manage a flying visit.
